Among other things, they support the delivery of Edinburgh 2030 Tourism Strategy, which includes our people and our place as two of the five strategic pillars. While the network has been successful at understanding the behaviour of tourists and private sector perspective, it has struggled to systematically engage with local communities and contextualise locally high level risks associated with over-tourism. This project aims to develop a proof-of-concept of a gamified approach as an alternative collaborative approach to include residents and communities in the conversation and gain a more nuanced understanding of the immediate impacts of tourism on their lives, while building a sustainable and liveable Edinburgh for the future.
